When I started my campaign to get back into the dating scene I did all the things I have mentioned here before. Prepare yourself for dating by revamping yourself with a new hairdo, new dating acceptable cloths and outfits, getting in shape, building up your confidence and courage to actually start talking to men for dating purposes. Then I had to get out there. Remember this was before the computer was around for everybody. It wasn't around for me because they were so expensive.
There were a few options. One was the personals, in the local papers.
You could respond to ads, it was done by writing to each other, then
later maybe giving out your phone number to one you may like to date.
Also there was the phone connection. They still have this but its more
geared to meet up for the younger generation for sexy rendezvous. On TV
I saw an ad late at nite called 'The people store',
and the ad was pretty clean cut. Like today's dating sites you have the
ability to listen to members, you choose your desired age group and
have the opportunity to listen to a short bio in the voice of each guy
who would leave a message for you to hear about themselves and what kind
of women they were looking for. Listening was free. Point 1, I
started this process before I was ready to start dating (before I lost
all the weight I wanted to loose). I figured I could talk to guys while
I'm working on loosing weight, and stay on just talk mode till then.
Oh I forgot to mention, on these phone sites they provide a line you
could talk to each other for about 10 to 20 minutes, rather that giving out your phone number. It
was a good safety measure.
